Our Approach to Learning

We believe that children learn best when they are engaged in purposeful, intentional activities guided by knowledgeable and caring educators. That’s why we implement the HighScope Curriculum, which is based on the educational philosophies of John Dewey and Lev Vygotsky. This approach emphasizes the importance of:

  • Active learning – Children construct knowledge through play and exploration.
  • Social interaction – Collaboration helps strengthen problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Reflective thinking – Encouraging children to process and discuss their experiences enhances understanding.


Through structured play, guided learning, and meaningful social interactions, we help children develop the confidence and skills they need to become lifelong learners.

Administration, as a classroom teacher for nearly 30 years, educational leadership has been a good fit.  Teaching credentials from Xavier University after obtaining a BS of Science degree and master's degree, I've been a lifelong learner.

Viola Kitchen

Pre-K Lead Teacher,  I have been teaching since 1987 grades k-6. I have always enjoyed assisting in the social and academic development of children. I have a BA of Science in elementary education (k-8) from the University of Cincinnati.
